Client injured in accident on cruise ship receives compensation

The accident occurred as our client partook in an on-board game, organised by the Cruise Ship, which required participants to stand on the edge of a swimming pool . As our client stood at the edge of the pool, the matting which had been placed on the step slipped away, causing our client to fall backwards and sustain injury.
He was left with a sprained ankle which meant he was unable to enjoy the rest of the cruise and had to return home early. Since returning home, he has undergone physiotherapy treatment and, we are pleased to say, has now made a full recovery from his injuries.
Following the accident we were instructed to pursue a claim for compensation. Investigations by Martyn Prowel found that the matting placed on the edge of the pool had not been secured appropriately.
Janine Griffiths from Martyn Prowel stated: “This client instructed us to pursue damages for the personal injuries he had sustained, the loss of holiday enjoyment and reimbursement in respect of the cost of his return flight. Following negotiations with the Insurers of the Cruise Ship, we were able to secure damages including a full refund of the costs of the client’s travel expenses, together with £5,000 for the pain and suffering, and loss of holiday enjoyment, which the client sustained as a result of his injuries”.
