So many people are superstitious when it comes to thinking about or writing a will. Although this is perhaps understandable the process of making a will is very straight forward, pain-free and provides a great sense of satisfaction and relief once it has been completed.
Ensuring that you hold a valid will at the time of death – a will that is tax-efficient, up to date, naming all of those loved ones you would want to benefit at the time of your death and appointing the people you want to administer your estate after death – is extremely important.
Despite what people think, it is not an expensive process. All of our fees for the preparation of a will are fixed, the price is provided at the time of the first interview (or before) and there are no ‘hidden extras’. The cost of a single will, for which no inheritance tax is required is currently £210.00 inclusive of vat. The cost of mirror wills (2), for which no inheritance tax is required is currently £324.00 inclusive of vat.
Normally, we like to speak to clients face to face, either at the office or at home, to discuss your wishes, your requirements and your financial position. With current necessary restrictions, however, we can arrange a telephone appointment during which we can provide the necessary advice, take your instructions and suggest the type of will best suited to your needs. We are then able to draft the Will, send it/them to you for your consideration and also provide you with instructions on signing the Will, again taking into account the current social distancing rules.
As solicitors, of course, we are members of The Law Society and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Why not give us a call on 02920 470909 and ask to speak to Natalie Harvey for further information or an informal chat about making your will?
