The Law Society has now launched a new accreditation scheme for Wills and Inheritance work.
So what does that mean for the general public?
It is intended that the general public will be able to see which Solicitors Practices have achieved membership of the Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme (WIQS). The Solicitors who are members of the scheme can be distinguished from those other professionals who are not specialist Wills and Inheritance and Estate Solicitors. A client care protocol is to be devised and solicitors who achieve accreditation will be listed on the Law Society Website for ease of reference. Any firm who does not comply with the required standards on an ongoing basis will lose the accreditation.
It is creditable way forward that not only assists Solicitors dealing with private client matters but, more to the point, helps the public to choose a specialist Solicitor when needed. It will hopefully push up standards of service in client care and minimise the risk of fraud and malpractice..
It is early days yet, but as and when the details of the intended scheme are known we shall let our clients know.
Will Aid:
Whilst on the subject of Wills, Martyn Prowel Limited is pleased to be part of the Will Aid 25th Anniversary. Will Aid takes place in November this year and lasts a month. The basic idea is that if you instruct us to prepare a Will on your behalf then instead of you paying us a fee, you make a comparative donation to Will Aid. Will Aid is a great opportunity to raise money for nine charities working to help people in need in the UK and around the world.
As a result everybody gets something out of this. You, a Will drawn up by a professional, the charities receive a donation and us, as Solicitors, hopefully, making a contact for the future.
