This might be a bit late coming (depending on if you think an end of year post should come at the end of the year, or at the start of the next!), but here it is – a look back at 2014, our first full year as a limited company.
Let’s just start by saying ‘wow’! There have been some exciting things this year. I joined the team late in 2014, and during my fact finding mission for this post I have heard some great stories and been told about some huge achievements. I wouldn’t be able to sensibly fit it all in to one post, so what you’re about to read is the highlights of Martyn Prowel Solicitors’ 2014 – enjoy!
Martyn Prowel Solicitors is a well-respected and leading firm in Cardiff, and every day over the last month I have seen why. Everyone here takes a personal and friendly approach, and goes that extra mile for the client. You can see how rewarding they find it, and it is fantastic working with such enthusiastic people. As it turns out I’m not the only one who sees this – in a letter to our Janine Griffiths, acting for the Claimant in a Civil Litigation matter, the Defendants’ Claims Specialist said that they were:
“obliged for not only the speed of your response, but also its thoroughness. Certainly the (vast) majority of the Claimant market would do well to emulate this”.
Coming from our opponent that’s a real commendation! However, it’s not only civil litigation in which the team have excelled throughout the year.
The Criminal Department have continued to work to the same brilliant standard this year, with fantastic representation throughout 2014. Charlene Davies-Williams in our Wills and Probate Department has attained the Wills and Inheritance Quality Scheme accreditation, and we also maintained the Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation in our Property Conveyancing Department. Furthermore, Gemma Jones in conveyancing made the step from trainee to solicitor, which cemented her place as another great member of the team – congratulations!
Our Divorce and Family Law Department and it’s staff have performed excellently – Rachel Davies, the head of department, is currently Chairperson of Collaborative Lawyers in Wales, and ensures that the whole department is committed to dealing with family cases in a constructive way. Finally, our Personal Injury and Medical Negligence Departments have both performed wonderfully – these departments comprise of experienced panel members who have consistently met and exceeded their clients’ expectations:
“This was my first ever accident claim and your company were very professional & proficient.”
On top of all of the above, several of the solicitors here have maintained a position in the Legal 500 – the clients guide to the best law firms.
Another major event last year was when Aled Watkins and Janine Griffiths were made associates within the firm. To quote Caron Rockey, Director, on this:
“Their promotion is a real statement of intent of where we want to take this practice. Both Janine and Aled have consistently provided an excellent service to our clients and this has served to further increase the confidence that our clients have in us.I’m sure they’ll continue to help lead the firm through another hugely successful decade.”
Overall this year Martyn Prowel has proved itself to be a centre of excellence. The above successes and the great feedback each of our solicitors receive on a regular basis have contributed to that, and these things motivate the already enthusiastic team day to day.
Looking forward 2015 has a lot in store. Throughout last year we grew as a company, new members were brought into the team (myself included!), and those already here gained more vital experience to bring back to the clients. The coming year will see further growth, innovation, and even greater successes. Personally, I’m excited to be here, and can’t wait to get the ball rolling on what’s set to be a fantastic year for Martyn Prowel Solicitors.
